Father Pio-Anthony Okafor will be filling in for Father Anthony while he is away studying in Washington D.C. this summer. 

Pio-Anthony Okafor, the 7^th of the 8 children of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Okafor of Nanka, in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra state, Nigeria. I entered St. Dominic Savio, Akpu in 1997 for my early journey to the priesthood, and completed the high school at St. Johnbosco Seminary, Isuaniocha, both in Anambra State and belonged to the then Catholic diocese of Awka. I had my philosophical studies at Pope JohnPaul II major seminary, Okpuno, Anambra state from 2006 to 2010.

The major seminary is affiliated to Pontifical Urban University, Rome. After one year of pastoral experience, I preceeded to Bigard Memorial seminary, Enugu, Enugu state for my theology (2011) I graduated with bachelor's and master's in theology from the same Pontifical Urban University, Rome in June 2015. I was ordained a priest for the catholic diocese of Awka, Nigeria on August 22, 2015. 

Since my ordination, I have served the church as parochial vicar of Madonna Assumpta catholic church, Agulu, in Anambra state (2015 -2017). While there, I also served as manager of Madonna Nursery/primary school, and Practising school, Agulu (both belonging to the parish). From October 2017 till July 2023, I served as the deputy director of the diocesan department for social communications, Fides Media Ltd. While serving the church, I continued my education by obtaining a post graduate degree in education (2016), and a bachelor of science (computer science from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria (2016 - 2021). I am currently studying for a master's degree in Interaction Design at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh.  I love music, reading, learning new things, and I play sports like Tennis, ping pong, and pool.
