- The Italian Navy: St. Barbara is the patron saint of the Italian Navy.
- The tunneling industry: In the tunneling industry, it is traditional to establish a shrine to St. Barbara at the entrance of a new tunneling project.
St. Barbara is often depicted standing by a tower with three windows, which symbolize the Holy Trinity. She is also sometimes depicted holding a chalice and sacramental wafer, or standing by a cannon.
